This week’s PoTW is the dogwood tree by our house. The Linked-to-photo goes to a gallery of 4 shots of the tree. It was full-on daylight, but I think they turned out nicely, with a minimum of post-processing. The bud pictures involved fill-flash to take out the harsh shadows.

This week’s photo is a long-ish exposure (5 seconds) in the dark at my favorite little Lake-park place. You can see some light trails from the traffic going along the little road in the back.

Every year First Lutheran goes whole hog and decorates the windows in the sanctuary. Since I present the illusion of knowing my way around a camera, I get to photograph them. Please visit the gallery if you’re bored.

This week’s photo is a cluster of lights over a local Hospice building, taken while going on a regular walk around the neighborhood. Other shots from this walk are in the “New Lens N’ Strap” album.

This week’s photo is First Lutheran’s bell tower. When the evening sun is coming in at the correct angle, you can see the bells in the tower, like you can here. It’s not quite springy enough for the trees to be budding new leaves.

“Bokeh” is a term that describes the out-of-focus highlights in an image. Different lenses have different kinds of bokeh, from smooth and creamy to seriously ugly. DIY Photography and Studio Lighting show a way to make your own bokeh shapes. Now to see if I can make a happy-face bokeh.

This weeks POTW was actually pretty easy to pick out. We got a nice sunny day on saturday (I think), so I went out to the back yard with camera in-hand. This is the post and cross-bar of a very solid clothesline, which we don’t use very much. As you can tell, we haven’t repainted it since we moved in (and I don’t think it’s been painted since the 70’s). There is some nice texture on the paint and the ropes.
